Happy New Year everyone!

Starting off a new year always feels like a clean slate and I thought it'd be best to consolidate my art resolutions for 2019 onto a new journal. When I really boil it down, I only have three main ideas and I want to break them down into workable goals that I can focus on.

1. Mothuans, Meeks, and Kharnuvians:

     

I've barely begun to scratch the surface with the 3 main alien race concepts I have: the Mothuans, Meeks, and Kharnuvians, and my goal this year is to continue drawing the basics for each species before I move on with ideas for other/minor alien race ideas in Halona and Keedra's universe. I spent the last few months of 2018 drafting out and compiling the fundamental concepts specific to each race, so writing-wise they are more or less ready- though I may revisit the files to change things as I move onto more drawings.

Of course I'll also try working more on my characters like Hal, Keedra, Ceannai, and Flo doing stuff and whatnot, as well as possibly introduce new characters but that's a given. Ideas like that come and go so completing concept sketches for the main races that I've already written is a more tangible goal at the moment.

2. Frostnip and Mayu:

  

This one's a bit more ambiguous as I only recently revisited these two during the close of 2018. I'm glad I did though, it's quite fun to come back to an old idea. Anyway, I did manage to scratch off some things for them on an unofficial to-do list, which was redrawing the designs for both Mayu and Frostnip, as well as introduce a little bit of Mayu's backstory and how she looked like as a human. The only thing left on that list is a sketch lineup of character ideas for Mayu's past- this is for her dad and two adventurer friends. 

After that, I imagine it'll be a "free for all" of whatever comes to mind, like sketches for other monsters, testing out Frostnip and Mayu in their current design, more stuff of Mayu in the past, and of course writing out and illustrating possible new ideas.

3. Ari



Simply put, my goal is to just draw more of her this year than I did in 2018, should be easy enough Mainly just random stuff but I suppose I can start with redrawing some old pieces or video game shenanigans.

What about you guys? Do you have plans or goals you'd like to set for 2019, for art or in general? Did you meet your resolutions for 2018? Or is New Year's resolutions not your thing?

(I can't remember what my goals were for last year because I never wrote them down xD;; )

It's been a while but as you guys might have already guessed, I decided not to delete/store my old artwork. Thanks again to those who gave their opinions as well as their support.

What changed in DA's algorithm that it decided to put a few of my old MLP drawings on the front page, or at least in the "What's Hot" section now? I noticed the sudden influx this past week which surprised me until I saw it for myself. I see this as a potential issue for a couple reasons:

1. They're old. Like I think the oldest one being back from 2012 and that was six years ago. While I may have been proud of them back then, looking back I can see so many things I could perhaps do better in retrospect. Therefore I really don't think they should be on the front and there are more pictures out there that are milestones better than what I drew four to six years ago.

2. I'm no longer interested in drawing MLP like I was before, something I never really addressed but my inspirations gradually shifted away from it towards other ideas. And I don't want folks to be following me if that's what they are expecting to see. The last pony-related picture I did was back in 2014. I still follow people of interest within the MLP fandom because I still like their art or content in general, but as for me I don't have as much free time as I used to and I'd prefer spending that time I have working on other ideas that interest me right now. The only thing I can see myself doing are re-do's of old MLP pictures, but that's about it. I know this may disappoint new followers who may have come after seeing the pictures but I'm sorry, it's the truth. And feel free to un-follow me.

So before I make any rash decisions without informing anyone, I wanted to get any opinions from you all, both new and old followers, about what I should do if anything at all. Naturally my instincts tell me to just store all my MLP deviations since they no longer reflect my current interest, therefore removing them from the "What's Hot" page and problem solved right? But I don't want to stop any discussions or critiques that may be happening on them. Or just carry on like business as usual?

Hey everyone, I hope you guys had a fun and safe Halloween. Welp, October flew by so fast and my plans didn't pan out at all due to some outside developments the past couple of weeks. But regardless, I'm still working on them c:

And as I mentioned in my last journal I'm gonna resume OC requests this month. I'll be starting with a small backlog from the previous requests submitted last time, but I'm willing to bulk out that list with new characters. So if anyone would like to contribute to the potential pool, feel free to post your OC and a reference here. Even if you posted your OC last time you can still refresh and post it again here, or if you want to suggest a new one, that's fine too.

I'll just quote the last journal for the rules:

"Just like last time, these requests will be pretty informal- just leave a comment on this journal including the reference(s) of your OC. You can request multiple OC's too if you want to give me more to choose from. I'll pick and choose which ones I want to do so it won't be guaranteed that I'll be doing everyone.

Hey everyone,

So just a quick update on OC Requests: now that September is over I'm officially closing requests BUT I will continue with my backlog list again in November. There are still a few that I have sketched out and some OC's I'd still love to take a crack at.

Thanks again to everyone who submitted their OC(s), and the ones I did manage to do during September were really fun

suggested some challenges for October and I thought it'd be fun to try my own spin and try coming up with new monster-girls/aliens this month. Either new aliens from scratch or new characters of the alien species I have already like Halona and the Meeks, and Keedra and the Kharnuvians, and of course Flo and the moths. I really enjoy reading past comments about them that help me develop them further.
